Introducing our new Chair, Doug Chalmers
Doug Chalmers was appointed by the Prime Minister as the Chair of the Committee following an open recruitment process. He took up his appointment on 12 December.

About the Committee on Standards in Public Life
The Ethics and Integrity Commission replaced the Committee on Standards in Public Life (CSPL) on 13 October 2025. The EIC has a separate website.
CSPL was an independent advisory non-departmental public body that advised the Prime Minister on ethical standards across the whole of public life in the UK. It monitored and reported on issues relating to the standards of conduct of all public office holders. The EIC has taken over these functions.
